Feel free to add any notes about SixDegrees below.

SixDegrees was founded by Andrew Weinrich. The original company name was MacroView, which was changed to SixDegrees. Weinrich later founded Joltage Networks and Meet Moi.

The beta site was launched on January 19 1997 and Version 1.0 was released to the public on May 30, 1997. My bulletin board launched October 1997.

YouthStream bought the company in 1998 for stock then worth $125 million.

Tribe and LinkedIn paid $700,000 to YouthStream Media Networks for United States patent No.6,175,831, also known as the "six degrees patent."
